‘Thangalaan’ box office collection day 13: Chiyaan Vikram’s
Chiyaan Vikram’s period drama, ‘Thangalaan’, which premiered on August 15, continues to perform steadily at the box office. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film is approaching a milestone of earning Rs 100 crore worldwide. The movie also features prominent actors such as Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan in significant roles.
According to Cinetrak, ‘Thangalaan’ earned approximately Rs 1.4 crore on its 13th day, bringing its total worldwide collection to around Rs 93 crore. In Tamil Nadu alone, the film has made an estimated Rs 63 crore, and the producers have already deemed it a massive success. ‘Thangalaan’ had a strong opening, grossing Rs 26 crore on its first day, as confirmed by the film’s team. By the end of its first week, the film had amassed Rs 75 crore, although it has since experienced a decline in box office numbers and lost screens at various locations. Despite this, Pa. Ranjith’s film continues to make a determined effort to increase its earnings and is steadily moving towards the 100 crore mark, potentially becoming Chiyaan Vikram’s second film to achieve this feat, following Shankar’s ‘I’. In addition, the Hindi version of ‘Thangalaan’ is set to release on September 6. This release is expected to boost the film’s box office performance significantly in North India. Set in the 19th century, ‘Thangalaan’ is based on the Kolar Gold Fields, a prominent mining area in India. The film delves into the lives and struggles of workers during that time period.
